Will the SEC Approve Grayscale’s XRP ETF This Week? All Eyes on Upcoming Meeting. With the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) set to hold its next closed-door meeting this Thursday, anticipation is building around the potential approval of an XRP ETF. The ongoing review of Grayscale Investment’s XRP ETF application has fueled speculation that the product could receive the green light as early as this week.

Anticipation Builds as SEC Decision on XRP ETF Nears

The SEC has been increasingly receptive to XRP exchange-traded funds, raising hopes of an imminent approval. This growing optimism stems from the regulator’s evolving stance on cryptocurrency products. The crypto community is now eagerly awaiting the SEC’s decision on XRP’s investment product.

In a significant development, the SEC scheduled its next closed-door meeting for February 27, 2025 (Thursday), with XRP ETF discussions explicitly listed on the agenda. Notably, the meeting will include deliberations on Cboe’s proposal to list and trade the XRP fund under BZX Rule 14.11 (e)(4), Commodity-Based Trust Shares. This has intensified speculation about a potential approval announcement.

Grayscale’s XRP ETF Application: What’s at Stake?

Grayscale Investment applied to convert its $16 million XRP trust into an exchange-traded fund in January 2025, making it the first XRP ETF to be acknowledged by the SEC. The application recently entered the SEC review list, marking a crucial milestone in the approval process.

The SEC published Grayscale’s XRP ETF filing on the Federal Register, initiating a 240-day review period. This timeline means that a decision could be expected by October 18, 2025, though early approval is still possible.

The crypto community is optimistic about an early decision, especially given the SEC’s recent actions. However, Grayscale’s name is notably absent from the closed-meeting agenda, leaving uncertainty about whether the commission will address it on Thursday.

Meanwhile, industry analysts anticipate that the SEC may soon acknowledge other XRP ETF filings. Bloomberg analyst James Seyffart recently hinted at more SEC acknowledgments, adding to the growing anticipation.

Could a Ripple Lawsuit Settlement Impact the XRP ETF Decision?

The speculation surrounding an XRP ETF approval is closely tied to the ongoing Ripple lawsuit. Recent settlements in Coinbase and Robinhood cases have sparked expectations of an early resolution to the Ripple lawsuit. However, legal experts suggest a potential delay due to the complexity of the case.

According to MetaLawMan, the Ripple lawsuit could conclude before Ripple files its appellate brief on April 16, 2025, though delays are likely. Meanwhile, legal analyst Jeremy Hogan suggested that an XRP lawsuit settlement would likely occur before the SEC approves the XRP ETF, citing the extensive regulatory review process.

XRP Price Slips Despite High ETF Approval Odds

Despite rising optimism for an XRP ETF approval, XRP’s price has experienced a sharp decline. The probability of an XRP ETF approval on Polymarket surged to 80%, reflecting strong investor sentiment. However, XRP’s value dropped to a 23-day low, highlighting the market’s volatility.

As of the latest data, XRP is trading at $2.21, down 10% for the day. The token also recorded a 15.7% drop over the past week and a 28.8% decline over the past month. Once ranked third on CoinMarketCap, XRP has slipped to 4th position, with a market cap of $128 billion.

Despite the price slump, investor confidence remains strong, as evidenced by a 215.8% surge in daily trading volume, now at $12.64 billion. This suggests that traders are positioning themselves in anticipation of a favorable SEC decision.

Will the SEC Approve Grayscale’s XRP ETF This Week?

As the SEC’s closed-door meeting approaches, speculation is reaching a fever pitch. An approval would mark a significant milestone for XRP, potentially triggering a bullish rally. However, ongoing regulatory challenges, including the Ripple lawsuit, add layers of complexity to the decision-making process.

For now, investors are watching closely as February 27 draws near, with the crypto community eager to see whether the SEC’s evolving stance on digital assets will translate into a historic XRP ETF approval.
